How to Deliver a Talk that Really Resonates with your Audience
- Know your core takeaways and make sure you deliver on them; When we summarize your talk, what do you want to audience to learn from it? What are the takeaways, and how will you communicate those in a way that resonates?
- Plan a run of show, minute by minute, for your speaking slot. Remember 15-20 mins can go by fast, especially when you’re engaging the audience.
- Where possible, appeal to all the senses: Auditory, visual, and tactile.
- Audiences want to consume (learning content); connect (meeting other people), and collaborate (accomplishing a shared task.) Can you include this in your session? Examples;
- Learning content: “here are some follow-up materials”
- Connect: “you can contact me, or my team here”
- Collaborate: “If anyone has experienced this, please post in the chat so we can hear about your experience”
- Engage the audience. This is one of the core benefits of speaking online. Make people participate in the chat, whatever you can to make them part of the show and you’ll have a satisfied audience.
- Remember, you were selected because you have valuable things to share! Take your time, smile, and enjoy speaking
